Urban Form
The Green Boulevard Plan builds on the following goals determined by the Allegheny Riverfront Vision Plan:
- Re-orient the city, existing and new, towards the river; create a new “front” along the river
- Utilize existing building stock: identify the opportunities for authentic and distinctive “places”
- Enhance and protect the features of the physical environment that defines such places
- Reveal and seek inspiration from the city’s history
- Intensify urbanism, develop appropriate uses and quality
- Create a mix of uses: build synergy
- Introduce new and diverse types of housing
- Recognize and celebrate distinctive features such as bridges that contribute to Pittsburgh’s identity; enhance views and vistas
- Create beautiful, usable public places along the riverfront edge
